DECEMBER ARTISANS OF THE MONTH: Kasha and Dacy Berry
Stay tuned for Darcy’s bio!
Kasha: In an attempt to convey what Creation communicates to her, Kasha’s creations can range from playful and whimsical (i.e. “Autumn Wonder”) to mysterious and ethereal (“Nevermore”). Her love of nature and imagination drive her to seek a place where reality and fantasy meet (“Leap Frog”).
Kasha’s favorite subject is animals, and she has been known to do Pet Portraits and Spirit Animal Portraits in a variety of media, including graphite, watercolors, pen-and-ink drawings, pastels (both oil and chalk), and charcoal (which is quickly becoming her new favorite medium!). Kasha is also well-versed in Polish folk art. She teaches classes in the old fashioned Polish style of dyeing Easter eggs (Pisanki). She also dabbles in the ancient Polish art of paper cutting (Wycinanki).
Kasha studied Studio Art at the University of Maryland’s campus in Munich, Germany. Three years in Europe gave her the opportunity to visit museums and attend lectures and seminars in Belgium, Austria, Italy, and Spain as well as Germany. She has also studied at local studios.
Kasha now resides in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley and, having raised and homeschooled her four children, she is free to turn her attention to her art, and to explore the wonders of Creation and Creativity. Please visit her on Facebook and follow her on Instagram.
