Artist Bio:
Ayla Heefner...Earth Child and Many Media Artist...living among my beloved plant allies, nature sprites, and the love of my life in West Virginia.
Inspired by dreams, plant spirit, wildlife, music and a deep desire to connect.
Much of my work incorporates as much upcycled vintage material as possible.
Drawn to creating faces with a focus on the eyes. Losing my mother at a young age created a disconnect and shyness that made eye contact intimidating and uncomfortable...now understanding it’s deep importance...eye contact is intragal to my portraits.
One of my missions in life is to cultivate little sparks of joy into creative fire...lighting the way to a Re-Enchantment of simple daily living.
I strongly believe we all posess an inate creativity that must be nurtured to become our whole selves.
My hope is for others to find, nurture and grow their own creative wings...to embrace their precious inner light, and let their hearts soar.!
The Work:
Mixed media...acrylics, pastel, watercolor, charcoal, oil...oh so many...so little time.
These works have a focus on wings, faces, fantasy and the magic of dreams.
My style is innocent and whimiscal...deeply layered with a touch of grunge.
My hope is to invoke a smile, touch a heart and stir the viewers inner child.
My art is my medicine, as it nurtures self love, self awarness, my own inner child...and quiets my annoying inner noise.
I believe the act of creating is a gateway to being present and in the moment...sacred and healing where time simply falls away...a place where stillness, peace, connection and joy abide.
