Beginner/Intermediate Guitar with Chris Haddox

The focus of this workshop will be accompaniment…whether it be providing your own for your singing, or backing up another vocalist or instrument such as a fiddle or banjo. We’ll explore both flatpicking ( I am not a flashy flatpicker in the vein of Tony Rice or Bryan Sutton…nothing like that) and fingerpicking. Depending on how things are going, we might look into an alternative tuning. One singing song I particularly like to use to teach back up is the West Virginia Hills. It is often performed as a march, but is so much more beautiful when played with a more sensitive backup…whether strumming or fingerpicked. I’ll use some of my songs for teaching and am glad for you to bring something you like and we can have a go at that. Feel free to bring a recording device (or your phone…I’m not picky) and have a song or tune in mind as something on which you would like to work! Yes…bring your guitar!

$35 for workshop alone / $30 if also getting a concert ticket with workshop
