DECEMBER ARTISANS OF THE MONTH: Kasha and Dacy Berry
Kasha: In an attempt to convey what Creation communicates to her, Kasha’s creations can range from playful and whimsical (i.e. “Autumn Wonder”) to mysterious and ethereal (“Nevermore”). Her love of nature and imagination drive her to seek a place where reality and fantasy meet (“Leap Frog”).
Kasha’s favorite subject is animals, and she has been known to do Pet Portraits and Spirit Animal Portraits in a variety of media, including graphite, watercolors, pen-and-ink drawings, pastels (both oil and chalk), and charcoal (which is quickly becoming her new favorite medium!). Kasha is also well-versed in Polish folk art. She teaches classes in the old fashioned Polish style of dyeing Easter eggs (Pisanki). She also dabbles in the ancient Polish art of paper cutting (Wycinanki).
Kasha studied Studio Art at the University of Maryland’s campus in Munich, Germany. Three years in Europe gave her the opportunity to visit museums and attend lectures and seminars in Belgium, Austria, Italy, and Spain as well as Germany. She has also studied at local studios.
Kasha now resides in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley and, having raised and homeschooled her four children, she is free to turn her attention to her art, and to explore the wonders of Creation and Creativity. Please visit her on Facebook and follow her on Instagram.

Dacy Berry was born and raised in West Virginia. She still finds herself quite in love with the peacefulness of the
mountains, although she also has a strong affection for the beach and for experiencing new places. Dacy loves adventure, pushing her limits, and expressing herself through art.
Dacy considers herself a self-taught artist, specializing in art attained through the use of alcohol inks. Although art has been a passion since she was very young, her use of alcohol inks has been a more recent discovery and source of delight.
“I'm not a fan of being held to the norm or to what may be socially expected of me, and that is why I love alcohol inks. They have their own energy and flow. They resist being controlled by lines and boundaries. They are beautiful. Thank you for taking the time to learn about me and one of my many passions. If you're feeling daring and free, join me in this vibrant adventure; I would appreciate the company!”
