Hailing from the mountains of Eastern Kentucky, one of the hottest bands on the Bluegrass circuit today, The Kevin Prater Band.  Though considered a Traditional Bluegrass band, they are highly appreciated and sought after for their Gospel Music Ministry.   Additionally, the band blends in Classic Country and Grassed Up Vintage Rock, assuring everyone will enjoy something from The Kevin Prater Band.

Kevin Prater began his musical journey at age four, thanks to his Uncle Boone Estep whom started his desire and love of music.  It was obvious from birth he was destined to be  musician.   His first professional touring job came at age seven.  By age nine Kevin had secured College Credits in Guitar and was getting the attention of many industry legends.  At age eleven, Kevin formed "Elkhorn Grass" with three friends, being blessed to tour throughout the surrounding area opening for many great bands.  Dr. Ralph Stanley took a personal interest in the band and utilized them often.

After eleven years of Elkhorn Grass, upon High School Graduation the band became part of the house band at Dollywood.  They worked for Ms. Dolly Parton for three years.  In 1997 Kevin was asked to audition for what would become, Grammy nominated James King Band.  That audition lasted twelve years, taking Kevin to 24 countries.  It also provided him the opportunity to be part of two "Album of the Year", a "Song of the Year" and a Recorded Event of the Year", award winning recorded projects.  Kevin then spent three years with The Bluegrass Brothers, earning a nomination as "Banjo Player of the Year". Filling in for and touring with many of the legends of bluegrass (Dr. Ralph Stanley, Ralph Stanley II, Charlie Waller & Country Gentlemen, Melvin Goins & Windy Mountain and others) along the way.

Kevin formed The Kevin Prater Band in 2007.  Now in the eleventh year, touring the USA and Canada.  The current band line up is filled with young, talented, high energy, hard driving musicians.  Adam Burrows, aka "The Dancing Fiddler" fills the Fiddle position, Lead and Harmony Vocals as well as the band comedian.  His brother, Jake Burrows plays Dobro and Banjo, can sing any part. The Burrows Brothers are from Randalman, NC.  Filling the Guitar position, Ryan Lester, singing Lead and Harmony.  Ryan comes from a long line of bluegrass greats from Hurley, VA. area.  Newest and Youngest member of the band, on Bass, Daniel Pugh, also from NC.  He is seventeen years old, is a Senior in High School.  Daniels talent and knowledge of Bluegrass music makes him a great addition to the band.  All members of The KPB play multiple instruments.

Their current CD, "All I Ever Wanted" released by Patuxent Music in June 2017 spent eight months on the Roots Music Charts Top 50 World Wide, peaking at #21.  Preparations are underway for a new CD later in 2018.  The bands six CD's and all information on The Kevin Prater Band can be found at http://www.thekevinpraterband.comor our facebook page.  Booking inquiries should contact Stacey Wright at 740-641-7884 or lonepine9039@yahoo.com.
