A life time spent studying voice and vocal production, Elizabeth Podsiadlo’s greatest passion lies in the mechanism of UN-impeaded singing. She teaches each student an awareness of vocal technique that starts at the bottom floor of their support system. “If you can’t feel it, you can’t employ it when you need it.”
When a singer uses their lower support muscles to sing, below the “diaphragm,” it frees their sound, giving them access to more notes and more sound colors to interpret their songs. A free sounding voice with no uncomfortable strain. This technique and other facial muscular instructions help the singer to offer a consistent, authentic and signature sound.
Elizabeth studied with the Small Opera of San Diego, where after 10 years she became apprentice to Maestro Pandeli Lazaridi, who was the head of the school and the main voice teacher.
While piano is not Elizabeth’s main instrument, she has taught piano to people of all ages since 2003 in her studio in San Diego and currently in her Hampshire HoneyBee Music studio. Each student will learn how to read music and identify notes on the piano. Resulting in learning many tunes which they can, if desired, play at an annual recital held usually in June. Piano study builds focus and coordination and helps the student to be a better learner. A product of the increased ability to focus, which is developed by this music discipline.
Elizabeth taught singing at Sandburg and Hickman Elementary school in Mira Mesa California, where for 7 years she worked with Pre-k through fifth grade children and coordinated and produced opportunities for them to sing several times a year in special concerts, plays and assemblies.
In 2016, Elizabeth opened a music studio in Romney WV. Hampshire Honey Bee Music Studio where students of all ages come to learn to sing and play piano. Creating performance opportunities as well as a friendly environment for singers to share their gifts in what are known as Performance Studios.
Elizabeth performed in San Diego California as a singer, and chef for more than 20 years. She taught and demonstrated cooking as the Opera Singing Chef in many local kitchen schools; “Great News,” Macy’s Cooking School, ect. Elizabeth hosted 14 musical cooking television programs that featured her as host as the Opera Singing Chef. These were aired on public access television where she would share recipes and stories and perform two arias with each program. A regular guest on the San Diego Living morning show as a guest chef and performer for more than 5 years.
