Dropping Julia is a pop-rock band in Charlottesville, Virginia, formed around the original songs of front-woman Emily Kresky. Hailing from Northern NJ, Emily began writing songs and picked up the guitar at age 19, which she carried all over the U.S. and across the pond, cutting her teeth in pubs, bars, restaurants and street performances.
With the addition of bassist Niko Cvetanovich and drummer Sean Bracken, her songs took on a new personality. With lively elements of rockabilly, 90’s-inspired pop, rock, funk and R&B layered over songs rooted in folk, Dropping Julia participates in the lush tapestry of American Roots music adding their own eclectic spin that is both uniquely modern and longingly retro. Their compelling performances, infused with authenticity and soul, richly combine a steadfast rhythm section, dynamic transitions and rhythms and entertaining camaraderie. With hauntingly alluring lyrics reminiscent of a dimly lit barroom, and whimsical yet sultry vocals, Dropping Julia sparkles with Jersey sass and Virginia charm.
In preparation for the release of their debut album “Wake Up”, the band has been tirelessly on the road, charming audiences in their hometown as well as up and down the east coast on stages including the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, NYC’s Rockwood Music Hall, NorFOLK Festival, TomTom Founders Festival, and RVA Music Hall. Radiating with dedicated musicianship and genuine friendship, Dropping Julia’s onstage chemistry has a magnetic effect, drawing fans and newcomers alike to join in on the the celebration.
